Rules:-

The players should be in proper playing uniform (numbered).

In case of colour clash, it will be decided by an official in charge before commencing the match as to which Team shall wear the colours (Bibs).

The duration of the game shall be 7 minutes each quarter and 2 & 5 minutes’ each quarter & half time breaks.

U/9, U/10, U/11 and U/12 age groups will follow MINI rules of FIBA.

U/13, U/14 and U/16 age groups will follow FIBA Rules

 

FIBA 5×5 Official Rules of the Game

Each team member shall wear a shirt numbered on the front and back with plain numbers, of a colour contrasting with the colour of the shirt. The numbers shall be clearly visible and:

  1. The basketball teams for Boys and Girls under 14 must be comprised of exactly 10 players each.
  2. Teams may only use numbers 0 and 00 and from 1 to 99.
  3. Players on the same team shall not wear the same number.
  4. Any advertising or logo shall be at least 5 cm away from the numbers.
  5. In case of colour clash, it will be decided by an official in charge before commencing  the match as to which Team shall wear the colours (Bibs).

Playing time, tied score and overtime.

  1. The game shall consist of 4 quarters of 7 minutes each.
  2. There shall be an interval of play of 20 minutes before the game is scheduled to begin.
  3. There shall be the intervals of play of 2 minutes between the first and second quarter (first half), between the third and fourth quarter (second half) and before each overtime.
  4. There shall be a half-time interval of play of 5 minutes.

 

Age category

  • U/9, U/10, U/11, U/12 and u/13 age groups will follow FIBA MINI rules.
  • U/14 and U/16 age groups will follow FIBA rules.

 

FIBA 3×3 Official Rules of the Game

Playing Time/Winner of a Game

  1. The regular playing time shall be 1 period of 10 minutes. The game clock shall be stopped during dead ball situations and free throws. The game clock shall be restarted after the exchange of the ball is completed (as soon as the ball is in the offensive team’s hands).
  2. However, the first team which scores 21 points or more wins the game if it happens before the end of regular playing time. This “sudden death” rule applies to the regular playing time only (not to a potential overtime).
  3. If the score is tied at the end of regular playing time, an overtime shall be played. There shall be an interval of 1 minute before the overtime starts. The first team to score 2 points in the overtime wins the game.

 

Court and Ball

  • The game will be played on a 3×3 basketball court with 1 basket. A regular 3×3 court playing surface is 15 m (width) x 11 m (length).
  • The official 3×3 ball shall be used in all categories.

Teams

  • Each team shall consist of 4 players (3 players on the court and 1 substitute). Note: Coaches on the playground and/or remote coaching from the bleacher are not allowed.

 

Game Officials

  • The game officials shall consist of 2 referees and 3 table officials.

Beginning of the Game

  • Both teams shall warm-up simultaneously prior to the game.
  • A coin flip shall determine which team gets the first possession. The team that wins the coin flip can either choose to benefit from the ball possession at the beginning of the game or at the beginning of a potential overtime.
  • The game must start with 3 players of each team on the court.

 

Scoring

  • Every shot from inside the arc (1-point field goal area) shall be awarded 1 point.
  • Every shot from behind the arc (2-point field goal area) shall be awarded 2 points.
  • Every successful free throw shall be awarded 1 point.

 

Time-outs

  • Each team is granted 1 team time-out. Any player or substitute can call the time-out in a dead ball situation.

 

Age category

  • U/14 and U/16 age groups will follow 3×3 FIBA Rules

 

3X3 Game will be conducted 10 minutes or 21 Points, whichever is early will be considered as winning team.

General Rules

  1. The organizing committee reserves the right to modify or revise the rules. 
  2. The game rules will be implemented as adopted by the Association. 
  3. The Referee’s decision shall be final and binding on both teams’ players and officials. 
  4. The organizers hold no responsibility for any injuries, fractures, damage, or accidents during the competition. 
  5. All players/participants and team officials must adhere to the rules set by the organizing committee. 
  6. Each school is permitted to send only one team for team games and a maximum of 5 participants for individual games. Only a single team can represent the school in each age group category. 
  7. Participants/teams must report to the competition venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled event time. 
  8. The organizers are not liable for any loss of personal belongings. 
  9. Any weapons, sharp objects, or objectionable items will be confiscated immediately. 
  10. Unruly behavior, violence, offensive language, smoking on the premises, and possession or use of abusive substances like alcohol will result in the immediate disqualification of the entire school contingent to which the offending students belong.
  11. The overall winners and runners-up will be announced on the final day of Viva on 17th December 2023 in Mumbai. 
  12. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  13. Once a protest is decided by the Executive Committee, it will be considered final and binding, and no further disputes will be entertained. 
  14. Forms will only be accepted with the entry fees, which are non-refundable.
  15. On-the-spot entries will not be accepted. 
  16. Separate entry forms must be filled in for boys and girls. 
  17. Please fill out separate forms based on the number of entries. 
  18. The entry form must be properly filled in, stamped, and signed by the principal, and submitted along with the entry fee at the fee counter between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. 
  19. Protest Procedure: Any protest must be lodged within half an hour of the match’s conclusion through the accredited Sports in charge/Coach of the team, along with a protest fee of Rs. 3000/-. The protest must be submitted to the organizing secretary. 
  20. The referee’s decision is final and binding on both teams’ players and officials. 
  21. Players/teams must present Aadhar cards and School ID cards upon request, and photocopies of the same must be submitted along with the complete team list to the organizing committee before the first game. 
  22. Any team found with an overage player, or any document manipulation will be disqualified without prior notice. 
  23. The team might be required to participate in 2 or more matches in a single day. 
  24. Requests for rescheduling or altering match timings will not be considered.
  25. Players are prohibited from wearing any form of jewelry, including rings, chains, watches, or metal spectacles, while on the field. 
  26. It is mandatory to tuck in the jersey during gameplay.

  1. We are excited to announce the upcoming Viva Basketball Inter-School Competitions for under 14 boys and girls. These highly anticipated events will take place at the zonal level, intra-city level, and culminate in the prestigious Viva national-level tournaments in December. 
  2. The highly anticipated premier competitions, namely “Swing & Swirl,” featuring exceptional solo and group performances, will be continued in all its grandeur. The mesmerizing showcases of talent in “Voice of Viva” and “Viva NOVA” for both boys and girls will also be organized with the same fervor and excitement as always.
